Cars That Go Fast: KUMHO - THE TYRES TO HAVE ON THE 2008 MANX RALLY KUMHO - THE TYRES TO HAVE ON THE 2008 MANX RALLY ================================================================================ Elton on 22 May, 2008 05:44:00 Welshman Melvyn Evans won the RBS International Manx Rally on May 9/10, beating Roger Duckworth into second place by less than a minute – both were driving Subaru Impreza WRCs shod with Kumho tyres. This was Evans’ second victory on the Manx. The event also represented a welcome return to competition for Duckworth and co-driver Mark Broomfield, following their accident on the Cork 20 International Rally last October. It was the team’s first rally on Kumho tyres too - a strong showing that brought them maximum points towards the 2008 Pirelli MSA Gravel Rally Championship. For Kumho, it was another powerful statement to the world of rallying – one of several branches of motorsport in which the company is making very rapid progress. With the fourth-placed Audi A3 Quattro of David Kynaston and Andy Russell also running on Kumhos, the company had three representatives among the top four finishers. Among its other recent successes was Niall McShea’s historic victory in the Production Class of last November’s Rally Ireland, which was achieved with a mix of Kumho’s proven C03 and its new TW02 rally tyre. The next round of the Pirelli MSA Gravel Rally Championship will be the Severn Valley Rally on May 30 at Llandrindod Wells.
