Big Industry - Big Opportunity Is A Big Hit For Rockingham

As part of Rockingham's ongoing commitment to education and supporting young people into the automotive industry, The Rockingham Education Partnership hosted their first conference of the government backed 'See Inside Manufacturing' initiative. The event lead the way in making people in the educational sector aware of the career opportunities and training available to them within the automotive industry.

The Big Industry - Big Opportunity conference, held at Rockingham Circuit in Corby on the 7th July, was a huge success with over 120 delegates attending. The delegates heard from industry leaders from companies including BMW (UK), Toyota, Chrysler/Jeep, Volvo, VW and Halfords Autocentres highlighting the countless opportunities available throughout the automotive industry; ranging from fitting, sales, manufacturing, maintenance and repair through to motorsport.

Chief Executive of Rockingham, Charlotte Orton, said: "We were thrilled with the success of the Big Industry - Big Opportunity conference, the first event from our partnership with the EEF. We hope to be able to continue with this success throughout our partnership, with many further activities, to be able to inspire young people to pursue the right choices."

The Rockingham Education Partnership will be holding the next Big Industry - Big Opportunity event on 12th October 2011. They will be once again be hosting the event at the Rockingham Circuit and will be especially for young people aged 14 to 25. The delegates will experience six different zones giving them an opportunity to explore different aspects of the automotive industry, highlighting the training and employment opportunities available in each area. The zones will include: motorsport, ride and drive, enterprise, future, services and workshop.

The event already has over 350 students registered and stands from organisations such as Bloodhound SSC along with the return of Jaguar Land Rover, The Institute of the Motor Industry, Snap-on Tools, Formula Kart Stars, GoMotorsport and Greenpower.
