DAVID BRABHAM CONFIRMED FOR AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL
Le Mans 24 Hours winner and American Le Mans Series Champion David Brabham is confirmed as one of the star guests at Autosport International, to be held on 14-17 January 2010, at the NEC, Birmingham.
Fans will be able to meet the sportscar great - son of triple Formula One Champion Sir Jack Brabham - at the show, where he will discuss his amazing 2009 season, which saw him win two major events. In June, David secured victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours in a Peugeot 908 HDi, along with Alexander Wurz and Marc Gene. In October, he was crowned American Le Mans Series Champion, driving the Patron Highcroft Racing Acura ARX02A, alongside Scott Sharp.
During his illustrious career, David has started 24 Grands Prix, including eight in the Brabham team, founded by his father. He has won the Le Mans 24 Hours GT1 class twice and he has been victorious at the coveted Bathurst 1000, thus showing his wide-ranging skills.
At the show, Brabham will also be taking part in the Racing4Charity Celebrity Karting Challenge, of which he is co-founder. The challenge will be a 90-minute endurance race, taking place in the Live Action Arena on Friday 15 January and promises to include a host of stars among the line-up. During the past two years, the charity event has raised an amazing £92,000 for a range of causes; Malaria No More UK is the principal beneficiary of the 2010 race.
The sportscar legend will also be hosting an exclusive free karting workshop at the show on Saturday 16 January. Here, Brabham will share his Brabham Performance Clinic ethos and the must-have skills a driver needs to progress through the motorsport ranks.
"2009 was a fantastic season for me personally, in Europe and America," said Brabham. "Winning the Le Mans 24 Hours for Peugeot was, of course, very special, but so was taking the American Le Mans championship title. I'm looking forward to getting the chance to thank supporters at the show; I always enjoy going to Autosport International as it's a great way to catch up with friends and fans."
Autosport International Show Director Ian France added:
"David Brabham is a highly successful sportscar driver, who is always popular with the fans and we are delighted that he will be joining us at our 20th anniversary show."
Sportscar fans will also get the opportunity to see David's Le Mans-winning car, the 908 HDi FAP, on the Peugeot Sport stand at the show, as well as Audi Le Mans rival and former Formula One driver, Allan McNish.
