Mercedes-Benz World Revs Up for Action-Packed 2009

With visits from Sir Elton John and Lewis Hamilton and guests driving the distance to the moon and back, 2008 was an incredible year for Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey.  Over 340,000 people visited Brooklands last year and 70,000 of them sampled some high-octane on-track action.
 
Now Mercedes-Benz World is revving up the action with a series of recession-busting events, the majority of which offer families a much-needed free day out. Top of the bill for 2009 is the Double Twelve Brooklands Motoring Festival, the best-value family event this summer.  A series of summer concerts by world-renowned artists also feature, as well as exciting events for local children during the school holidays, this event calendar is guaranteed to have something for everyone.

January  
1-13 Feb Mercedes-Benz World is combating the January Blues with two exclusive offers, the first of which is Buy One, Get One Free on Driving Experiences. Visitors booking a passenger ride upon arrival at the Brand Experience Centre will receive the additional thrill of a complimentary second passenger Experience.  In addition to this, Cafe 1886 is offering a free cup of credit-crunching coffee to all visitors downloading a voucher from www.mercedes-benzworld.co.uk.
   
February  
14-22  During half term, Mercedes-Benz World is marking the forthcoming start of the F1 season.  In addition to celebrating Lewis Hamilton’s status as World Champion, and his success in the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1car, there will be presentations on F1, Mercedes-Benz motorsport and high performance AMG models. 
   
  In addition to an in-depth look at motorsport, the half term week will also include opportunities for children to get behind the wheel with a Kids Driving Experience, while the Silver Arrows Display Team will entertain the crowds with dramatic daily performances.
   
March  
22 Celebrate the Centenary of the opening of Test Hill at the Brooklands Museum.  From 10am-4pm (last entry 3pm), step back in time with demonstrations from Penny Farthings and pre-War cars and motorcycles, whilst iconic vehicles from the past 100 years ascend Test Hill.  Families can experience the drama and skill of this historic test with passenger rides, while a childrens’ running race to the top of the Hill will communicate the driving skill needed to tackle this gravity-defying test.
   
29 Mini Day: Featuring Minis from far and wide, members of the Mini Car Club will be attending their annual gathering at Mercedes-Benz World. Expect to see the best minis, in top condition, participating in runs up the famous Test Hill at Brooklands.
   
April  
4-19   An Easter treasure trail around Mercedes-Benz World will keep little ones happy, and with chocolate prizes for everyone taking part, even Mum and Dad can have a go. In addition to the tasty treats, the Silver Arrows Display Team will be dazzling visitors with daily performances.
   
May  
2 Auto Italia: Italian cars both old and new will be on display at the Brooklands Museum for visitors to enjoy.  In association with Auto Italia magazine, hundreds of Italian thoroughbreds and cars will be showcased, with selected cars taking part in Test Hill demonstrations.
   
9-10   Fans are invited to watch the Spanish Grand Prix and qualifying at Mercedes-Benz World to support Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen.  A large screen will heighten the race-spirit and add to an atmosphere of excitement and suspense.  Over the weekend there will be enlightening introductions and presentations on F1, from the past to present day. 
   
23-24  Fans are invited to Mercedes-Benz World to watch the Monaco Grand Prix and qualifying, where the race will be shown on a large screen to really allow visitors to experience the race-spirit and support Lewis and Heikki.  In addition to the excitement, there will be presentations on the history of the AMG brand and F1 plus a motorsport exhibition featuring Lewis Hamilton’s 2007 Formula 1 racing car.
   
23-31 Half Term: Expect entertainment galore over the half term holiday, including Kids Driving Experiences for children of any age over 1.5m tall, and the Silver Arrows Display Team which will be entertaining the crowds with more high-speed precision-driving daily performances.
   
June  
7 Super Car Club Rally: Mercedes-Benz World marks the starting point of the Brooklands to Monte Carlo Run.  A selection of the world’s most sought after supercars will cross the start line at Brooklands before completing a full lap of the Mercedes-Benz World Handling Circuits and onto the open road for Europe.
   
13 -14  The Double Twelve: Brooklands Motoring Festival 2009: This action-packed, two day event will be bringing motorsport heroes to the masses. From Sir Stirling Moss performing driving displays as he celebrates his 80th year, to other high profile celebrities guaranteed to rival last year’s appearances by Lewis Hamilton, Heikki Kovalainen and Tiff Needell, 2009 is going to be see a weekend not to be missed. Whilst F1 icons will be providing high-octane excitement, The Double Twelve competition will give visitors the rare opportunity to see veteran, vintage and classic cars alongside the latest super cars out on the Handling Circuits, and with everything from air displays to kids driving experiences and a Scalextric road-show to the latest gaming courtesy of EA Games, this is one family day out not to be missed. Prices for the best-value family event this summer are have been set out with families in mind.  Two adults and three children can attend buy purchasing a recession-busting £50 Family Ticket, when bought in advance, while children under 12 go free.
   
20-21  British Grand Prix: The biggest weekend in the calendar for patriotic F1™ enthusiasts. The thousands unable to get a ticket for Silverstone are invited to give local support to Lewis and Heikki at Mercedes-Benz World, where the entire weekend’s action will be shown on a large screen.  There will also be enlightening introductions and presentations on F1, from the past to present day, aiming to make the weekend informative as well as exciting.

Summer holidays:  Mercedes-Benz World will be delivering an exciting programme of events throughout the summer holidays, all based around the celebration of 100 years of the famous
Mercedes-Benz Three-Pointed Star logo.
With activities based around transport on land, sea and in the air, just as the star itself is, there will be free daily entertainment to help parents with the unenviable task of entertaining the children for those long summer days.
   
July  
10 – 12  From Sir Elton John to the Sugababes and McFly, 2008 saw Mercedes-Benz World hosting some of the most scorching summer concerts of the year. 2009 promises to be even bigger and better with a weekend of performances by some of the biggest and best performers from around the globe.  Concert-goers from across the UK are advised to watch this space for the official announcement of the summer line-up and act quickly before tickets to the weekend are snapped up.
   
19 Mercedes-Benz Club Classic Car day.  A rare opportunity to see hundreds of the finest cars throughout the legendary heritage of the Mercedes-Benz marque. 
   
25-26 Fans are invited to watch the Hungarian Grand Prix on large screen at Mercedes-Benz World to really experience the race-spirit and support Lewis Hamilton.  There will be enlightening introductions and presentations to the history and present day of F1.
   
August  
22 - 23 Motorsport enthusiasts will be flocking to Mercedes-Benz World to watch the European Grand Prix on a large screen to really experience the race-spirit.  Throughout the weekend there will be enlightening introductions and presentations on the history and present day world of F1™.
   
29 – 30 There will be more motorsport excitement as Mercedes-Benz World screens the Belgian Grand Prix to offer support for Lewis and Heikki.    Visitors can attend enlightening introductions and presentations on the history and present day of F1.
   
September  
12  Destination Brooklands: Mercedes-Benz World will host the annual smart festival. Previous years have seen smart football and even cartortionists, so make sure you pay a visit to see the unforgettable entertainment on offer this year, courtesy of this iconic, funky city car. 
   
October  
4 Bristol Owners Day: The Brooklands Museum welcomes lovers of Bristols to this biennial event, where some of the marque’s iconic cars will be out on parade.
   
24-1 Nov Half Term: More school holiday entertainment will be taking place at Mercedes-Benz World over the half term holiday, including the opportunity to put your children behind the wheel of an A-Class family hatch or smart with a Kids Driving Experience.  The Silver Arrows Display Team will also be entertaining the crowds with their daily awe-inspiring performances.
   
November  
15  Military Vehicles Day: Military vehicles will gather at this annual event,    which comprises parades, static displays and Test Hill demonstrations to entertain the whole family.
   
December  
19 – 3 Jan Christmas Holidays: Pay a visit to Winter Wonderland at Mercedes-Benz World this festive season for fun for all the family.
