1000th Edition For Motor Sport Magazine
With its iconic British Racing Green masthead, and its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of writing and photography, Motor Sport has been the "bible" for motor racing fans all over the world since 1924.
Motor Sport will mark its 1,000th edition by producing one of the biggest issues in its history. Packed with top features and a special gatefold cover featuring more than 100 motor racing heroes, this special souvenir edition is set to become a collector`s item.
The 1,000th issue contains a rare in-depth interview with Formula 1 sensation Lewis Hamilton, who talks about his admiration for the late, great Ayrton Senna. "Senna had that little extra edge, that`s why I admired him," says Lewis. "I feel I have that extra edge, too."
For Moto GP fans, there`s a revealing interview with multiple World Champion Valentino Rossi, who says that he plans to move into Formula 1 car racing when he retires from motorcycles. "I like Ferrari, a lot," says Rossi, "and I want to do ten years in cars when I finish with the bikes."
There`s also a fascinating interviw with Professor Sid Watkins, the neuro surgeon who transformed the way Grand Prix drivers are cared for in the event of an accident. The Prof talks movingly about drivers whose lives he has helped save and his crusade to improve the sport`s safety.
Besides Motor Sports 1,000th edition, this year also sees the 500th race of the Williams Grand Prix team. Motor Sport talks to Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell, Jacques Laffite, David Coulthard, Keke Rosberg, Alan Jones and Nico Rosberg about life as a Williams driver and why this quintessentially British team is loved by so many millions of fans.
Motor Sport also salutes the achievements of Porsche in its 60th anniversary year, selects its ten most important racing cars from the iconic Weissach manufacturer and explains why Porsche is such a significant name in motor racing history.
There`s also a flashback feature tracing the history of Motor Sport magazine and its writers - among them Denis "Jenks" Jenkinson, who won the Mille Miglia sportscar race with Stirling Moss and was also British and World Sidecar Champion.
Plus - The story of the world`s biggest racing car manufacturer, previews of the Race of Champions (where Michael Schumacher will take on the rest of the World), and Nigel Roebuck, the doyen of Grand Prix reporters reflecting on the first ever F1 night race in Singapore.
The 1,000th souvenir issue of Motor Sport goes on sale in all good newsagents from 31 October, price £4.95.
