The explosive Murtaya sportscar will make its first appearance North of the border at the Scottish Motorfair this weekend.

One of the UK’s leading success stories in the automotive industry, the Murtaya is based on the iconic Subaru Impreza’s running gear with a custom-designed lightweight body shell.  The British-built pocket rocket offers supercar-beating performance.  Weighing in at just 900kgs the convertible sportscar features a high power turbo-charged engine and four-wheel drive.  With up to 400bhp under the bonnet it can accelerate from 0-60mph in around 3.5 seconds and top 155mph.

The Murtaya has won a string of internationally recognised industry awards, and now comes in kit form or ready-built production specification.  In addition to the road car, race and rally versions of the Murtaya have also been produced for use in competitive motorsport.  Bitz Motorsport have recently been appointed as sole distributors of the Murtaya in Scotland and will sell both road-going and motorsport specification models.  The Nairn-based performance specialists will display one of the latest variants of the Murtaya at the Knockhill event over May 9-10.

Manufactured by Cornwall-based Adrenaline Motorsport, the Murtaya can be bought in kit form for just £11,995 plus VAT or factory built for £27,500 on the road.  The car has proved extremely popular since its launch, with very strong demand both in the UK and overseas.  While major players in the automotive sector have been experiencing serious trading difficulties over the past six months, Adrenaline Motorsport has seen a surge of interest in the affordable Murtaya.  It plans to defy the current economic climate and expand its operations to create more highly-skilled jobs in the UK.

In 2005 Cornwall-based Adrenaline Motorsport started selling kit cars from a barn with only £20,000 funding.  Since then the specialist performance car manufacturer has turned over in excess of £1 million and has exported its vehicles to North America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Adrenaline Motorsport managing director Neil Yates said:

“We are delighted to be able to display the Murtaya at the Scottish Motorfair this weekend.  Knockhill attracts a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable crowd to the event, and we’re sure the Murtaya will prove to be just as popular in Scotland as it has elsewhere in the UK and abroad.  The Murtaya is a really exciting and good-looking road car, but can also be used as a very dynamic track racer or rally car.  Part of its appeal is also that it’s just downright good fun.  We hope it will be a big hit in Scotland so we can grow our customer base there and expand our healthy forward-order book even further.”
