VR CAMARO UNVEILED AT THE PISTONHEADS SHOW

The PistonHeads Performance Car Show - held on 14-17 January 2010 at the NEC in Birmingham - is set to be the launch pad for the eagerly-anticipated VR Camaro, a tuned Camaro tweaked specifically for UK roads.

The VR Camaro gets a big jump in power over its stateside cousins as well: it's equipped with a 6.2-litre GM V8 and a new, compressor-style supercharger designed and built in the UK, a combination which is expected to produce more than 600bhp.

To cope with the power, it's also fitted with 410mm (front) and 385mm (rear) diameter brake discs, with 12-pot front and eight-piston rear calipers.

Fans of the iconic Camaro can choose between the factory six-speed manual gearbox, which incorporates a short-shift kit, or the automatic transmission, which has been crafted for the best possible performance.

Everything under the bonnet has been designed for speed, but the styling will stop you in your tracks. With a swollen front grille and classic, Trans-Am-inspired ducktail spoiler, it is sure to turn heads. Its 22-inch wheels are machined from billet aluminium, making them half the weight of the original Camaro rims, and its bumpers, skirts and spoiler are all made from carbon fibre to reduce weight.
