HRCR launches new '100 Rally Series' and Newcomers' Rally Schools
To start next year, the 'HRCR 100 Rally Series' of daytime regularity rallies is being aimed at the newcomers to historic rallying, although the events may also appeal to more experienced members who prefer events with straightforward tulip type navigation.
Initially to be organised by members of the HRCR committee, with the assistance of local HRCR area group members, the sociable, low-key, 100-mile events will be open to HRCR members in any type of historic or classic car, but with preference given to cars over 25 years old.
Competition licences will not be needed and all events will keep to the same basic beginner-friendly format. Initially, events will run with a maximum entry of 12 cars, but it is hoped to be able to run larger entries in some areas as the series develops. A calendar of events will be announced shortly, with rallies planned across a range of HRCR local areas from Kent to Yorkshire.
Meanwhile, the HRCR's popular Newcomers' Rally Schools will continue through the winter of 2007/08 and will particularly focus on introducing new members to the 100 Rally Series. The new series of events will give newcomers suitable experience before they move up to the HRCR Clubmans Rally Championship.
The next Newcomers' Rally School is planned for Saturday 3 November in Ross-on-Wye, and further schools will be scheduled in the New Year in other parts of the country.
