Ian Drummond and Yvonne Coppin will tackle the Harry Flatters Rally over Epynt on 1/2 August as part of their build up to tackling the 2009 Roger Albert Clark Rally in Drummond's Ford Escort Mk1.

They first teamed up for the 2008 Roger Albert Clark and overcame various dramas, including sliding off the road in Newcastleton, to finish 16th in the 2-litre Pinto-engined car and are now determined to improve on that result.

Ian Drummond and Yvonne Coppin"We had a great time on the RAC last year and want to have another go," said Northampton-based Drummond, who has now been rallying for 40 years.

"The car continues to be run by Sweep Motorsport and although it is very unlikely that we will beat all the super stars who will be in Yorkshire in November, we do intend to try to improve on our 16th place overall of 2008," said Drummond.

"I've been rallying since I was 17. I used to do road rallies and hillclimbs, sprints and a I've done bit of circuit racing in the past. I used to do international rallies in the 1980s with Keith Baud co-driving for me and we had some good results in Belgium," said Drummond. "I've always enjoyed my rallying and I intend to carry on, doing selected events."
