WRC Stars 'Drive' Into Spain

Stars from the FIA World Rally Championship participated in a slightly different kind of driving yesterday (Thursday 1 October) after they took to the golf course prior to the start of RallyRACC Catalunya – Rally de Espana.

Jari-Matti Latvala and Henning Solberg were joined by co-drivers Miikka Anttila, Cato Menkerud, Michael Orr and Scott Martin on the PortAventura Golf’s South Course.

WRC Stars 'Drive' Into SpainCompeting in a stableford competition, it was Stobart VK M-Sport Ford’s Scott Martin who took the individual honours, and he was joined by BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally team’s Miikka Anttila who secured the nearest the pin prize.

Jari-Matti Latvala said: “I’ve recently taken up playing golf so this was a good excuse to get in some more practice. I must say it was the best course I have ever played on – absolutely fantastic. We played alongside some members of the media so it was a good way to engage with them and relax before the event begins.”

Henning Solberg added: “We had a great time on the course and it’s a wonderful experience to sample the facilities at the venues around the world we travel to. It was good fun and I think I’ll be trying to get a few more lessons before I take on the guys again!”
