News from Calum Lockie

Calum Lockie will contest the 11th 24-hour race of his career to date when he tackles the Silverstone 24-Hour race this weekend (20/21 September, 2008).

Northampton-based Lockie has been invited to share a Porsche 996GT3 with Paul White, Steve Scott, and Philip Harris and believes that they can challenge for class success in his local round-the-clock endurance race.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be doing the race and I'm very grateful to Paul and Steve for making it possible," said Calum. "This will be my 11th 24-hour race and the third time I've done the Silverstone 24-Hours."

Having finished third in class and fifth overall in 2005 and won his class in 2006, Calum is hoping for another strong result. "I think a Porsche could win the race this year through reliability. We'll play the 24-hour game and see where it comes out by Sunday afternoon."

The class two Porsche is fitted with a sequential gearbox and should be a competitive proposition it its class. However, the class two entry is strong and Calum knows from experience that a slice of good luck as well as strong teamwork and quick but consistent driving all add into the final result.

As well as the two Silverstone 24-hour races, Calum has raced in the 24-hour marathons at Le Mans (once), Zolder (once), Daytona (three times) and the Nurburgring (three times).
