PAUL NEWSOME APPOINTED HEAD OF HIGH PERFORMANCE VEHICLES FOR THE C-X75 HYBRID SUPERCAR

Following today’s announcement that Williams F1 will work with Jaguar Land Rover on the production of the C-X75 hybrid supercar, the company can confirm the appointment of Paul Newsome to the position of Head of High Performance Vehicles.
At a press conference in London today, Jaguar Land Rover and Williams F1 announced a long term association to design and manufacture a road-going version of Jaguar’s C-X75 concept supercar. Launched to critical acclaim at last year’s Paris Motorshow, the project will provide Jaguar with its most technically advanced and exclusive model to date.
Educated in mechanical engineering at Sheffield University, Paul Newsome’s 26 years’ experience in the automotive industry started in 1984 with the Rover Group and the BMW Group from 1997 where his worked on the re-launch of the MINI Cooper. Paul then moved to Jaguar Land Rover as Group Chief Engineer for Advanced Product Creation and Research between 2001 and 2007. During this time he led the concept creation of the T5 platform with its products Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport and Jaguar XF and XJ.
Paul then joined Lotus as Director of Engineering, responsible both for the design and development of Lotus' cars and Lotus Engineering, the global Engineering Consultancy. Paul presided over the engineering of Lotus Evora, Evora S and the new product concepts unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motorshow.
In his new position as Head of High Performance Vehicles, Paul will lead the C-X75 joint project team from its base at Williams F1’s headquarters in Grove, UK.
